Hard to believe that August is here, and another summer is almost over. Hopefully you still have at least a few weeks before school starts. (As a child, I started school the Tuesday after Labor Day every single year. Summer ends too early now!)

This week, I’m taking one more break from work, meal planning, and laundry and am just relaxing on a beach (not this one, but similar) before coming back home feeling refreshed. My only plan for this week: to walk along the sand every night looking for the turtles who come ashore and lay eggs. Then I will take the same walk in the early morning looking for the babies making their way to the sea. And in between I’m going to read. That’s it. It’s going to be great. (Actually, I’ll do more than read, but it sounded good to say that.)

Parents, I’m living proof that the day will come when you too can take a vacation and just relax. It will happen. I promise. But first you need to put in the years of hard AND rewarding work needed to raise successful adults. Then you too will be able to watch the turtles and read, all by yourself. (And also remember how fun it was when you had your kids with you.)

Enjoy the rest of your summer. Remember that “the days are long, but the years are short”. You really only have 18 full summers to spend with your kids, so enjoy them while you can.

Oh, and I have a new web site and a new email address. I hope you will check out my new site and let me know what you think. I look forward to connecting with you soon!
